Sounds like either the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder. Master is fairly easy to swap, the slave not so much

Welcome to FD!
To me it sounds like a synchro going south specially if you have to rev match to get into gear.
What gears does this happen in? Clutch feel mushy or solid? Any grinds when you do get it to go into gear?

That does suck. If you can, I'd probably hold onto the car for about a month and see if you can find a trans on the cheap somewhere. I got one from Pic a Part for $167 out the door. And it turned out to be in great shape for my MTX swap. Or if you want to convert to ATX I have one of those in the backyard

ATX is short for automatic transmission aka a step backwards. MTX is manual transmission which is a much better trans for the focus in my opinion.
