Do the speaker covers come off to replace the speakers or do I have to remove the whole door panel? 02 SVT for reference. My new headunit has blown the factory speakers.

The whole door comes off. The grill is separate, but melted on the inside to the door panel. Speakers are 6x8 which usually do not come with speaker grills anyway.
When I say front, it is the part of the door that would point front if the door was closed. When I say rear, it is the part of the door that would point rear if the door was closed.
First remove the black cover that hides the screws for the mirror. Pull the part of it that is aimed to the front of the car toward you, then it pulls out the rest of the way toward the "rear" of the door. Go easy with it. Use a very small (small as in girth not length) Flathead screwdriver and take off the tiny cover for the screw in the handle cup, there is a divot for that. Screw is a T15/T20? look at the "panel" that houses the door and window switches. Grab the front of the panel and pull toward you. The front will come out first. Be careful to not break the clip that holds that panel to the handle toward the rear of that panel. I have broken many. Undo the cabling in the back. There are 7 screws around the door. (T15/T20?). Use the same very small screwdriver to pop off the panel that is inset to the handle. There is a small hole that is in the bottom rear of the handle. Push the tip in as far as it will go and push the handle toward the door panel. This will pop that inset piece and expose the 2 "1/4 inch" screws in both sides of the handle. If memory serves, door should be free. Pull the bottom out a bit then work the door off from the rear to the front.
The speaker is held in with 6mm screws. And the cable is very short. All this is done with memory and if anything is wrong, please post.
Do the reverse to put it back together. Just one though though. The door panel is a B*%^h to get back on. You have to start at the front top and get the lip on the metal door lip. I usually pull the lip hard with my fingers to get it back in. The angle going back in is usually very high in the rear and the bottom pulled toward you very far. That is the best way I can explain it without showing you.
You will realize how well the door is put together for such a cheap car.
