Some new shiny parts arrived Ordered both analog wideband and analog vac/boost AEM gauges. Then ordered from ATP turbo... -5 bolt to 3" V-band adapter with a V-band clamp and flange to convert my GS down pipe to a full 3" plus who doesn't like the simplicity of V-bands? -new 5 bolt gasket -new low profile oil return flange because I didn't like the old setup. It used a barb fitting which I felt was too long causing the oil return line to go down slightly and then back up to the oil pan. Not good. -new studs and nuts for turbine housing to v-band adapter -new molded 3" 90 degree low profile rubber coupler with 2.75" insert to fit my compressor inlet. Looks like a really nice and sturdy piece, shouldn't collapse and should fit pretty well. -3" Stainless Steel pipe. Going to make an intake pipe similar to GS but mines going to be full 3". My old setup went 3" intake to 2.5" GS intake pipe back to 2.75" compressor inlet. Now it'll be full 3" to turbo. -3" 4-ply silicone coupler. Now time to go have some fun...

Looking for opinions please! So here is my new gauge placement, its still unfinished... Now here's my options as far as finishing the whole dash piece. 1. Try to find a grey paint that matches as close to the original and re-paint. 2. Paint the entire piece Dupli color Trim paint black. Vents included. (not sure how this would look with the grey SID and Radio but don't think it'd look bad.) BTW in my experience this paint looks very close to factory black trim panels especially in my Focus. 3. Paint the vents black and Carbon Fiber wrap the rest or... 4. Paint the vents as close to original grey and Carbon Fiber wrap the rest Alan, what do you think about carbon fiber wrapping something like this and would you help me? ;D

Gauge placements look nice. Yes, we can do the carbon fiber wrap on it. I can get some quotes for a good 3M wrap that wont crap out on you later on if you'd like.

You can choose between black carbon, silver carbon, regular carbon style wrap or fabric carbon wrap. The wrap vinyl comes in a 50" wide roll and is sold by the foot starting at $17.99 for the 1st linear foot.

Cool. My friends Audi A4 has a very nice black carbon wrap on some of the trim parts I'd like to match. I'll try to get a pic of it.
The dash piece is 33 1/8" x 10" so a foot should be perfect. How hard do you think it would be to do around the vents? Saab and most companies who make overlays cut an oval around the vent instead of covering it. I think painting it as close to original grey then wrapping it factory style would be easiest.
Still kind of wondering if Carbon would even look good or not.

Well i can photoshop your dash with the Carbon Wrap on it so you can see what it may look like. As far as the vents go, we can wrap those but it'll be a very meticulous job. Ill do some photoshop work tonight and post it up when im done.

That would be appreciated! I was also thinking maybe something like a darker wood too might look good and different. Or maybe brushed brushed aluminum (this is a 9-5 interior)... I really dont know So if anyone has an opinion say it.

Brushed aluminum or CF would look best in my opinion. Im working on the 'shopping of the cf on the dash; ill post it up on the morrow. Here's what I got so far. Im adding shading to certain areas to outline the different dash areas the curve in.

Awesome cant wait to see what it looks like done. Here's a carbon 9-5 dash a person did on my Saab forum. I've narrowed it down to this or brushed aluminum.

A few minor updates Painted valve cover and DI in semi gloss black, came out ok. Rustoleum engine paint is far better than Duplicolor in my opinion. Manifold to head hole that was stripped, poorly repaired by shoving a 3/8" bolt in a M8 hole, and stripped again. Going to make a little write up on how to fix this later, but thankfully its able to be repaired correctly. And the latest discovery! Was pissed when I found this. There is supposed to be a molded in nub on the timing cover for the power steering pump bracket to bolt to on the bottom. Now with a hole there oil can come out and random **** can get inside the engine. Its either pull engine to replace timing cover or get creative with JB Weld. I think JB Weld wins... Now for everyones (the 3 or 4 people left here ) opinion... What vinyl should I go with to wrap the dash? Hard to get accurate pics but I tried. Flash on Off 3M 1080 CF Black 3M 1080 Brushed Aluminum 3M Di-Noc CF Black 3D Fabric CF Black (cool texture to it an looks like its very easy to work with) Not sure brand Brushed Aluminum (better looking than the 3M above imo) Lets hear your opinion. Just need to wrap the dash and interior is done for now. Then need to fix head and timing cover, put it back together and the car should be done.

Coming along great, I vote for the fabric cf. One thing to remember with dash parts is to keep the glare down with dark colors. And add to it a cool fabric texture, it gets my vote.
