Thanks for the comments bro. Well im still the running the 1.5L non-vtec motor on the civic. The head im going to install on it is from the Z6 1.6L vtec motor. That should give it a bit more pull. But even with it, the ZX3 feels alot stronger, especially with the Cosworth cams. Civics, older models, are pretty freakin' slow from jump street so you have to spend some money just to get them to a decent amount of power. The Foci definitley pulls significantly on every gear after we installed the cams. I like the Civic cause they are very easy to mod and work on. The Foci is fun to drive and would be awesome with the proper mods. The only 'con' with this Foci is that its a 2dr; meaning i have to move the seat to get the little ones in and out of the car, but its not a nut buster. The hatch area is great and really comes in handy. Theyre both reliable cars but if i was to spend top dollar on performance parts, it would be for the Foci. The Cvic is just gonna get a bit of a face lift and the new head. Maybe turn it into forced induction later on but that will depend on the plans with the Foci.

Yeah, I had a ZX2 and the main reason I got the Focus is the 4 doors. Great cars!

So I have grounded the Eg and it is now on the stands ready to get a make-over. I traded my 15" Fat 5 rims for a set of leather RSX seats. The driver side has a small tear, not too bad. Seats are in pretty good shape. So i will now begin to prep the car for the head swap and ill also tear out most of the interior and redo it. Not sure how yet. Heres a pic of the Eg on the stands: Heres a pic of the RSX seats: Heres a pic of the current seats i have in the Eg: So im gonna take my time with this make-over/face lift. Give me something to do on my days off when im bored. Im also planning on just taking off the wrap completely and redoing the whole car in a matte black wrap. Cheaper than a full blown paint job. Ill keep this thread updated with pics as things progress. Also with pics of the Foci as it gets new additions. Once the Eg is all done, im gonna put on a set of 17" BSA's that it used to have on. Theyre black w/a silver deep dish lip. Heres a pic of the 17" BSA's (pretty dirty):

Yeah, theyre really easy to work on. Theres alot of room in the bay which is why you can swap any motor into them. The seats need some cleaning and theres a little tear on the drivers seat due to normal wear; but im not sure what im gonna do with them yet. If i cant find someone who will buy them (theyll go for dirt cheap) then ill just give them away.

So i made a bit of progress today. Here are some pics of the Eg being a bit more torn apart. First off, my little helper: Radiator, hoses, vacuum lines, valve cover off: Head almost ready to come out: Timing belt, motor mount, pulleys off: Water pump off: I should have the old head completely off in the next day of two, depending how much time i decide to spend on it. From there ill prep the new head for installation. Clean it out, install the aftermarket cam gear and make sure the block is good and ready for the new head.

Looks like you're going to town on this, I'll be interested to see where this goes. What kind of gains do Honda's typically get going to a VCT head like this and whats your power goals for this car? Just curious. Keep up the good work.

Thanks bro. With the vtec head on the LX block, it would probably get you around 20hp extra. At this point, im not really looking for any specific numbers; if things go well w/the business then that might change. If the financial situation allows it, i would like to build the engine for boost, just to have that little extra kick. Other additions that arent too costly for power gains would be a Skunk2 mani and Ex tranny. We'll see how it goes at the end.

Wow, 50hp is gonna be a decent jump. On Focus Zetecs, you'd be lucky to gain 30hp from a head AND stage 2/3 cams, or even an SVT head with VCT for that matter. Focus Duratecs are more mod friendly though. I've seen some 2.3 dura's get into the 200whp range N/A. Well good luck an have fun with the car!
