Actually thats the clear coat on the paint. Its a '95 and w/the Vegas sun + the dirt out here, it really messes w/the paint. Youll notice alot of older cars looking like that. But yeah, much much better. Thats why i didnt take the other wrap off until i knew i was gonna paint it or wrap it.

got it. So what does it cost to wrap a car your size? I've seen it done with company advertising and in mags where they did a white satin wrap on an STI, but they never tell you how much it costs!

Well on average it'll cost you about $9-$10/sq. ft for print and installation. Some companies will break it down to $7 to print and $3 to install that sq foot. Other companies will say $5 to print and $5 to install. The price also depends on the design you're going with, how much ink will be used. For my vehicle, not so technical design, would cost around $2500-$3k.

wow I could paint for cheaper! just wanted to know, someday I may want to change the color of my car to something other then dirty white, nothing crazy just a satin solid color. Might have to try it my self someday, or start doing it on the weekends.

If youre going w/a solid color then it'll be alot cheaper. Its about $700 a roll which will cover the whole car; bumper to bumper, top to bottom. Its when you have designs and different colors in the vinyl that'll get costly.

Thats more like it, I was thinking it should have been under a grand but you never know, I've seen a lot of cool products coming out lately. Most of the cost is the giant printer, I used to know a guy here in town that had/has a wrap business, I think his printer was like $10K or something?

Yep that does sound about right, I must have been thinking about the embroidery machine that another friend has. Hell his T-Shirt printer was $16K w/o the add-ons! Well at least its a somewhat low cost business to start/get into, as compared to other custom car stuff.

Yeah, getting the clientele is the hard part. At least the ones that want to spend money on a full blown wrap.

Yeah but even they are cutting back on how many vehicles they'll get that on.

I had enough vinyl left over so i decided to cover the driver side rear door and the gas door: Before the wrap: After: All done: Gotta spray those door moldings:
