Okay, so this is my build thread for my '03 ZX2. Since the '98 threw a rod, I have removed all the turbo components from it and am in the process of cleaning, porting, polishing, recoating, and installing everything onto my '03.
Currently, the '03 has the following:
Powertrain:
Escape engine swap
JohnP intake manifold
SVT header
2.5" ORP
2.5" Trubendz exhaust - Borla muffler, Magnaflow 14" res, 2.5" SS pipe, Magnaflow HFC
Iceman intake
Roush airbox
Still slow as f*ck
Suspension:
GroundControl Coilover sleeves
Eibach springs
S/R struts
21mm RSB w/ ES endlinks
OffTheLine rear tie bar
Ractive strut tower bar
Appearance:
DDM 6000k Bixenon conversion
S/R shift boot
Paul Walker shift knob
B&M short throw shifter
S/R gauge cluster
Charcoal armrest
Valve cover signed by Dominic Torretto
Coolant overflow relocation
Slim fan
16x7 Konig Foil wheels 205/50 Goodyear FuelMax tires made for handling! (not)
Overall, a great car that's been reasonably reliable with the new engine.
My car needs a few parts to make me totally happy with ride comfort and steering response: upper strut mounts, ball joints, inner tie rods, alignment, ps pump (noisy), HFC needs to be taken out and welded in correctly, exhaust leaks solved
Now, onto the build..
My goal is to make 20whp MORE than my '98s build (which I didn't do) by only making my engine and select components more efficient.
Plans are as follows:
IHI VJ11 turbocharger - port & polished turbine housing with ported wastegate hole, gasket matched and ported O2 housing, stock wastegate. Ceramic coated hot side and custom heat shields to keep under hood temps low. Braided oil line and .059" restrictor.
2.25" Powdercoated flat black charge piping that's been pressure tested and bead rolled for optimum boost leak resistance.
27x7x2.75" FMIC with custom bracket to keep shifting and moving to a minimum.
Black pipe couplers with T-bolt clamps on pressure side. Intake side adjusted for BOV recirculation.
DSM 1g BOV. Great for up to 20psi.
Focus Zetec exhaust manifold redrilled for VJ11. Ceramic coated and custom heat shield for heat retention.
Mustang Cobra 4-wire MAF. 70mm diameter and great for boost. 4" K&N filter. 3" ram-air induction from fog light opening.
65mm CFM TB.
FR Stage 2 cams. OBX adjustable gears. Cams will be dialed in with a degree wheel.
Port & Polished Focus head w/ 3 angle valve job. Stock valves and springs.
2.5" downpipe. Ceramic coated and possibly wrapped.
2.5" exhaust with 30" magnaflow glasspack and dual divorced tips. Mmmmmmmmmmm
Front tie bar
EnergySuspension Hyperflex bushing kit.
The plan is to use the dyno tune from the '98 as a base line before I get to remote tuning with Fernando from RPS.
I'll update this later when I have pics. Any questions just ask.
