Thought I'd post something for the other members to see what I've done to my car from when I was 14 years old and stock to the present and not so stock.
The car actually used to be my brother in laws until he needed to sell to get into a door x 4 car for real estate. My parents made a deal with him to buy the car so he'd have a down payment for something new and then my parents intended to sell the Focus and split the profit. Well I was 14 at time (in 2007) and started detailing the Focus to be sold, BUT whatever we did, we just couldnt sell it. Few pics that I took for the For Sale ad...
At this point, they decided to keep the car for me. Learned to drive in it yada yada yada... Fast foward to Jan. of 2009 and thats where I met the club for a dyno day. Car made 113whp / 105 wtq 100% bone stock ATX Zetec. Pic and Video credit goes to Phil
Then after that, I was officially infected with the mod bug. Started with a brand new FRPP suspension kit and Eibach F & R swaybars. Car was on rails...
Then came SVT F & R brakes. Went with Centric Blanks, Hawk HPS pads, Russell SS hoses, new wheel bearings, etc. Bead blasted all the Ohio rust off the parts and had it all zinc'ed for free through a friend. Then I painted the calipers and hub centers gloss black
Added SVT silver HVAC controls and SVT black surround
And added an SVT e-brake handle and leather boot
Then came the tune from Tom (1turbofocus) on FF and the AEM wideband. I absolutely hate A-pilliar gauges so I made this...
And this for datalogging... Firewire female end molded right into my ashtray. Now instead of hacking a double male firewire cable I can use it for tuning and for the computer plus I can wire other loggable stuff into the female end and while still using a single cable. Out of sight and super stealth
Final Result
Then came full SVT exhaust from header to tip
Wrapped up in DEI titanium header wrap, stuff is amazing. I'm able to touch the header with the car on now and still keep my digits.
A generous friend welded up a bung for the wideband in the cat. Not a ton of room but he pulled it off perfectly.
Heavy duty heatshield I fabbed up
And the perfect fit
Stripped old black paint off and polished the tip
Fabbed an EGR block off plate
Then I fabbed a ram air scoop for the the SVT intake/ K&N filter I forgot to mention. Plan to make a fiberglass bottom and top version sometime.
Made a hose to run from the SVT snorkel to the cowl for a cowl induction effect
Engine bay pretty much as it is now, just cleaner
Then I went from this...
To this...
Massive rear stress bar I scored for $80 during a Black Friday sale. Great mod which again improves the tightness of the car.
Then I ordered, oh about, $350+ worth of professional detailing stuff and proceeded to start by polishing the headligts and foglights
Befores...
And the afters...
Still have yet to do the whole car
Then I pressed in Prothane Poly LCA bushings for the front. Great mod, definitely improves steering feel with no change in harshness!
And now for a small photoshoot and test fit with Dom's EAP's...
Pic courtesy of Dom
And now the biggest mod I'm about to undertake.... the atx to mtx swap with a Torsen T2 limited slip diff!
Trans before rebuild...
Tear down... and yes its going down in my room...
Everythings in great shape!
Reassembly...
Oh hey buddy
New slave cylinder, axle seals, VSS sensor, and rear dogbone bracket/ bolts...
New clutch line
All cleaned up and ready to drop in!!!
And that's where Im at 4 years later...
More pics to come later.
